Just remember passing by this cemetery in 1967and 1968. Has changed since then...

The ARVN (Army of the Republic of South Vietnam) equivalent of Arlington National Cemetery in America. Over twenty thousand ARVN troops were buried in this cemetery. Some soldiers remains have been repatriated by family members, some gravesites restored and many are unclaimed. A new memorial was permitted to be built next to the central stupa a few years ago as well. When the NVA came through in ‘75 they desecrated many of the graves along with the former Tomb of the Unknown Soldier located on the hilltop in front (his grave is now in the main cemetery). The NVA cemetery across and up the road a little ways is in naturally better nick. Made inaccessible to the public by the government until 1994 and turned into a public cemetery in 2007, if you’re interested in the history of the Vietnam War (or as it’s called today the ‘American War’) era and/or would simply like to pay your respects it’s well worth a visit from Saigon. For more pictures (from my first visit in 2011) Google ‘Mike Krause’s Photostream Flickr’ and click the Vietnam album.
This is old Army Cemetery of South Vietnam (1954 -1975) but the entry gate looks like normal any company gates in Hanoi or HCM cities!
Resting place of the patriotic soldiers. The sacred place of worship, to help people living memorial to the dead. Where the life out of the ground, will end on the ground.
Peacefull
