Very interesting place, you can see the heavy influence of traditional Buddhist temple repurposed into a Catholic church. The main cathedral is the biggest attraction, of course, but the 2 side smaller ones is just as richly in history but clearly could use some restoration works. The nearby civilian house along the way in has some interesting design trends too, the older ones, that is.

It was a cold, windy day in October when i visited and it was just me and the sleepy security guard. It was a fittingly peaceful as i wandered the grounds for about an hour before stepping inside to pray. I never found out why such a nondescript town as Phat Diem has such an impressive cathedral or how they came up with such a seamless mix of intricate Asian architectural style with traditional catholic functional layout. Everything was familiar and at the same time exotic/foreign. It has been maintained well with only a few areas needing repair and no rubbish.

Wonderful architecture of the church. There are beautiful corners surrounded the church. Should improve the security staff. Should courteous to tourists.

An unique cathedral with Eastern-temple-like architecture. It also possesses a deep history about the development of Catholic Church in Vietnam

I could see the toll of time on the stone walls of all the buildings here and I marvel at how it remains strong over the years. The carvings are so deep and intricate that they stand out at night. The interior has a lot of wood elements and is obviously influenced by Vietnamese compared to St Joseph’s Cathedral in Hanoi Old Quarter. I also like the large grounds that appears linked to what seemed like a community house and also how the faith had spilled over into what appears to be a lake with statue of worship in the middle. Everything is so wonderful and lovely here. I strongly recommend tourists to walk around the Kim Son District that is surrounding this beautiful place of worship.

Really worth the visit, beautiful side chaples and main church. Not often will you see such a mix of architecture with a Catholic church

Excellent example of traditional architecture being influenced by new Western design. Should be on the list of "must see" for future Vietnamese architect
