A nice but fading beauty.

A Cambodian temple full of protected bats. These are sacred creatures and live on trees just next to the temple. Finches could be bought and released as an offering for Buddha's blessing.

It's famous not because of nice architecture temple but a lot of really big bats (Size of eagle) in the garden. They only eat fruit but the size no other bat can reach.

Very nice and beautiful place in Soc Trang city. But the staff in vehicle park was very impolite and what he did was not he should do.

I paid a quick visit to Mahaup pagoda due to its famous architecture and its bats (mostly its bats). It was smaller than I thought. One biggest building and few smaller towers, some were in reconstruction. I am not an intellectually architectural man but honestly speaking, the architecture of this pagoda is somehow beautiful to me. The bats were still crowded but not as crowded as they used to be (according to local taxi driver who drove me there). But they were giantic compared to these tiny bats I encountered in the big city. They were hanging in groups in the backside of pagoda. I were surprised of how they live peacefully right on top of human made buildings and many other human activities. I give 4 stars for the architecture and the bats. 1 star is deducted due to bad hygiene (trash is mostly everywhere in the backside of pagoda, maybe due to the reconstruction). P/S: it is free. No ticket needed.
