The VGU MBA program focuses on Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) development and is run in collaboration with Leipzig University's MBA Program in Small Enterprise Promotion and Training (SEPT). Upon the successful completion of the program graduates will receive an MBA from both Leipzig University and VGU. Therefore, this is a great opportunity to obtain a German MBA, in English, delivered by international Professors and Lecturers. The program is designed as an integrated whole with the clear focus of SME development in the macro and micro level. At the end of the program, students will be able to: • Understand the complex global environment in which SMEs operate • Focus on the application of theories rather than isolated academic concepts • Respond to new managerial problems of SMEs in the international context • Emphasize long-term, proactive strategic planning for sustainable competitiveness • Demonstrate competence for leadership and learning within SMEs Curriculum overview The MBA is a four-term program divided into different sections: • Two terms of course work • One term for a research project • One final term for a master's thesis Students complete the program with a master's thesis, which involves an in-depth exploration of relevant topics concerning SME development. During this time, data collection is undertaken and an evaluation of the research results must be submitted as a report. The last semester involves students preparing their master's thesis on a topic selected by the student with the approval of their supervisor. Students must travel to Leipzig University, for a minimum of 4 weeks to participate in the research colloquium. This is a great opportunity to visit their Alma Mater. In addition, this allows them to exchange ideas and consult with their German supervisors during the first stages of their master's thesis.
