Motor boat tour on Saigon River and to floating market

For the more intrepid tourist. We hired a boat for 1.5 hours organised by a person that approached us near the ferry terminal. He then called up the motor launch and we boarded straight from the sloping sea wall (not suitable for disabled or infirm). The headroom was limited but it was comfortable sitting under the awning. It was a hot day and once out on the water, the temperature dropped somewhat. With the breeze it was very pleasant compared to when we were ashore. Our driver took us to the floating market where he helped us to purchase coconut juice drinks for a very reasonable price. The driver does not converse in English but knows a few words. We then went onto the river and enjoyed seeing the local craft and the large international ships at their berths. An interesting feature was a traditional wooden vessel moored in the middle of the river to sell provisions to passing barges and workboats. You get a different perspective of Saigon from close to the water. This was the third time we had hired a boat in this way, and each time has been enjoyable.
