Cai Lan International Container Terminal (CICT) is a joint venture company between SSA Holdings International – Vietnam (SSAHVN), a subsidiary of the American Company - Carrix, Inc., and Cai Lan Port Investment Consortium from Vietnam (CPI). CPI is a Joint-Stock Company which was established in 2007 by Vinalines, Quang Ninh Port, Geleximco and other independent individuals. SSAHVN is a subsidiary of SSA Marine - Carrix Group, the top-class world port operator, operated more than 100 ports in 12 countries throughout in the world, which handled over 20 million TEUs in 2011. CICT holds a 50-year license to develop, design, finance, construct, equip and operate berths 2, 3 and 4 at Cai Lan Port, Quang Ninh province. The CICT terminal has a 10 meter access channel draft at low tide, a 13 meter draft at the berth, a total quay length of 594 meters, a 18.1 hectare container yard, and initially be equipped with four 17-wide quay cranes, then later with two more cranes. The annual container handling capacity of the terminal is 520,000 TEU in 2012 and increases to a capacity of 1.2 million TEU at its full capacity.
