Coming to this UNESCO Heritage point by bike it has been just the best of our Vietnam trip. In this specific point you can enjoy a moon (lunar) landscape that is really special. Continue to the flag pole and enjoy the views, mountains and rice fields! :)

Youth Volunteers Memorial who opened the way from Dong Van Town to Meo Vac Town in Ha Giang, Vietnam
Amazing story of the people who lost their lives to build this road and connect the Hà Giang villages. They definitely deserve this monument
We, Vietnamese people who understanding how hard working back to those day to create a bloody road for next generations. It's also quite really important for Vietnam to protect borderline between China. Always emotional whenever I passing by...

There's just this statue, nothing else. Not even a cafe. It's very close to the Ma Pi Leng Pass, and with the scenic beauty around, it has potential to be a good stop. The other road, leading to a uphill village, around the place offers a much more interesting experience. It takes about 10 minutes to reach the top, and the view from there is stunning.
The statue is the gateway to Ma Pi Leng, a nature wonder formed by charming steep cliffs with a beautiful green water river about 1km down below from the walking paths that criss-cross the mountains and are used by both the native population (tribes) and tourists.
