This market in Hồ Học Lãm street is a typical local Vietnamese market with many shops, quite crowded, cheap prices, fresh food and a lot of items needed for daily life are available here. Best you enter at one of the 2 entrances from Hồ Học Lãm street and go inside the market until to the end, then continue perpendicular and then back to the 2nd entrance like in an U-shape. As foreigner you better go to this market with a Vietnamese friend to achieve a much better price and to avoid misunderstandings. I personally prefer at this market the fresh seafood, fresh vegetables, fruits, French bread and tofu. You also can enter this market with a motorbike although it is quite congested. After big rain however, the Hồ Học Lãm road is flooded up to 40cm water depth which could be quite dangerous for your motorbike. Such local Vietnamese markets have also a very special flair and are for foreigners much more interesting than modern shopping malls. The sales people in this market are kind and are not spoiled by tourists because this market area is mainly used by the local people there. Next to this market in Hồ Học Lãm street there are many further shops which makes that street quite busy. I was surprised about the good quality of fresh white French bread available there. Street food is also available here and you have a great choice: phở bò, phở gà (the traditional Vietnamese noodle soup with beef or chicken), different kind of sandwitches, drinks, etc.
