Ba Be national park is huge natural reserve in North Vietnam. We were told it is more than 23000 hectares in size. One of the highlight is the Ba Be lake which is a natural lake amidst limestone cliffs. There are also few beautiful caves and waterfalls. So refreshing to go on a long boat ride on the lake. There are lot of trekking trails around Ba Be lake and these are a must do. There are also bicycle tours to go around the lake. The road is pretty good and hardly there is traffic. Visit the Ba Be tourism centre at the entrance of the national park to get more details.
Nice park, but I would recommend to go with a group. Most of the activities "require" a guide, it is possible to do it yourself but I had trouble finding the most basic "trekking" trail. There's a possibility to go on a boat trip or rent a kayak ( you can call someone or walk around the lake to find a spot ) some little shop to "cook" ( instant noodle with vege and eggs ) if you want to save some money, my host ( homestay ) didn't speak any word in English so I needed google translate and only 1 lady was helpful
Beautiful and peaceful piece of land in Northern Vietnam. Definitely one of the must sees while visiting this part of the country. Boat trip on the lake is a must and is one of the highlights of what you can do here besides kayaking, trekking or simply laying back and enjoying the nature. Multiple and welcoming homestays to choose from which will only elevate the experience higher.
Peaceful place to visit. Very small village with homestays. Loved to just walk trough the rice fields without having any other tourists around. Highly recommend this place to find some quietness
This National Park is a must if you are visiting the North of Vietnam. Take a hiking tour to enjoy the jungle and the different village there. We contacted a 1 day hiking with Mr. Linh and it was great. We highly recommend this homestay and it's services.
Amazing lake so much to see
Not really worth more than an overnight stop. There’s not really much to do here and it doesn’t offer anything unique considering the multitude of beautiful destinations in this area. The road around the lake is totally busted, and the homestays are all cheap and mediocre. We took a few good pictures and went swimming and moved on early the next morning.
