The driver wouldn't give us our bags until we payed him 100,000 for each bag. He stole our money. Guarded our bags to intimidate us. Horrible experience. We already paid our ticket he was scamming us.

Travelled with this company from Hue to Ninh Binh which means spending about 13h on a sleeping bus. The bus was overcrowded - people sleeping in the alleys - we saw cockroaches so quite dirty as well and 2 hours late on top of it all. Very unfriendly staff and no meal included (despite what was written on the ticket). Oh and our bags were soaked in the hold. They do have pretty pictures of buses on their website though. Avoid.
BEWARE, DON'T USE IF YOU HAVE ALLERGIES. Bus from ferry to Cat Ba was old and filled with mold. The air inside was unbreathable. On the return trip we asked if they could get us on another bus to the ferry but they refused. They have one one moldy bus and they care more about their costs than making sure passengers can breathe. Will cost your a lot more to change travel arrangements last minute - hoang long costs you a lot more in the end.
The woman that works here is fantastic! So helpful! Very good English. All tours were canceled our only day there, so we wanted to change our early morning bus/boat booking for the next day incase the weather cleared. For an extra 100000 dong she booked us on another bus company that left at 4pm as Hoang long left at 1.30 at the latest. She arranged a tour for us too, as the company we wanted couldn't accommodate us leaving early very well. She arranged for us to be bought back to Cat ba in time for the bus, an hour before the tour officially ended. We did have to pay an extra 200000 for this, but it was just another tour boat that left early, so I though that price was too high. But otherwise, very happy with her service! The bus back was with a very good company. For reference, we were two people. Some advice, don't book return tickets when in Hanoi, easy to book on the island.
Dirty and unfriendly but a cheapest and fast way to travel. it's never really clear if your are heading the right way but we survived :-)
I chose their service hanoi- cAtba for return ticket. Happy with them.
